Prince Arisugawa Taruhito, who had been appointed Governor-General, stayed here when he visited Takase. The Governor-General used a private residence, located near the present-day Yoshida Hospital, as his headquarters. As the living room of the Imperial Prince was a two-story single room that had a giant camphor tree on its southern side, it was dubbed “Hojuro (Phoenix Tree Tower).”
